Clova 2008
Description

The Clova ride (formerly Clashindarroch) will take place from a new venue.  Tracey has been hugging her neighbours and has obtained the use of a field in Lumsden (off A97).  There is good access for lorries and trailers, and hard standing for 3 - 4 lorries (but please phone to book a place)  This year there will be a pleasure ride, 30km, 50km, 60km and 80km rides. The routes will be joined to the venue by a new section.  The 30km (actually33km) will combine the best sections of last year's route through the forest (weather, felling works and wind-blow permitting) with the previous route over the Peat Trail, farmland, and Craig and Clova estates.  The climb is 480m.  There is minimal roadwork on quiet roads.  The longer distances are repeats of the 30km and/or pleasure ride routes.  Vetting will be at the venue. The pleasure route is one of Tracey's favourite home rides over the estates of Clova and Mid Clova on good surfaced tracks, with a hill climb of 570m giving glorious views at the top

Looking forward to seeing you there.  Joint organisers: Joan Austin and Tracey Banks

Average speeds at Clashindarroch 2007: 60=12.05, 50=12.37, 30=10.75, Tr=10.93, Pl=9.61

Update March 08

Clova (formally Clashindarroch) Ride – 11th May 2008

We are getting closer to the big day and in true endurance style there are some last minute changes. The pleasure route has been changed as certain tracks are unavailable due to nesting game birds.

The pleasure loop consists of lovely tracks and 15% on very quiet farm roads.  The tracks are all wonderful and you could canter almost the whole way!  There are 2 shallow ford crossings as well.  The highest point in the pleasure is now only 400m.

The other routes have a few changes due to felling of trees in the forest and going onto different tracks to keep the forest commission happy!  We think it has improved the ride and gives you access to some nice tracks.

There is a new venue this year just of the A97 on the outskirts of Lumsden.  The field has easy access for trailers and there is a limited amount of hard standing available for lorries.  (Please email Tracey to book a place).

The Clova ride has pleasure/training, 30km, 50km, 60km and 80km rides available.

Not long to go till the ride now and we are still seriously short of helpers.  If you are not riding, PLEASE come and help on the day.

Looking forward to seeing everyone.
