RIDER RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Collect
number from Administration.
2. Be
familiar with rules for relevant class.
3. Be
familiar with ride instructions and any notices displayed at ride.
4. A
farrier will be present at this ride. Horses should be appropriately shod
beforehand and riders should not expect the farrier to shoe horses on
the morning of a ride.
5.
Tack - full details in rule book. Hats must be to PAS015,
EN1384, ASTM1163 standard. Rider First Aid Kit must contain triangular
bandage, pressure bandage, vet wrap, space blanket, glucose tablets, whistle
and rider ID card. Laminated rider medical card must be attached to front
strap of bib for duration of ride.
6.
Present on time for all inspections, wearing number, and with
your vet sheet.
7.
Notify checkpoint stewards of your number when passing.
CHECK-IN PROCEDURE
1. Pleasure/Training
riders (if members) hand in Mileage Card with date and venue entered and
Horse Registration Card, in plastic poly pocket. All riders hand in A5
Medical Sheet, in sealed envelope if preferred.
2. Competitive
riders hand in yellow Master Card or green Novice Card plus Mileage Card
with date and venue entered, plus Horse Registration Card and A5 Medical
Sheet (in sealed envelope if preferred).
VETTING PAPERWORK
1. Before
the veterinary inspection, complete the Entry Details in the first section
of the Vetting Sheet. Competitive riders should also note any recent marks
they wish to bring to the vet’s attention under Blemish Details & Action
Peculiarities.
2. Give
the form to the Farrier for verification of hoof/shoe inspection.
3. Give
the form to the Vet Writer for the veterinary inspection.
4. Give
the form to the Starter/Timer at the start.
5. At
arrival at Halt/Finish, collect vetting time card from Starter/Timer.
6. Give
vetting time card to Vet Writer/Vet Steward at vetting.
VETTING PROCEDURE
1 At initial vetting, hand vetting sheet to Vet
Writer (or Vet Steward if applicable).
2. All horses will have a one-minute heartrate (HR)
taken.
3. All
horses will be trotted up and back a 30-metre distance, competitive horses
will have further checks.
4. Retrieve
your vet sheet to take with you to the Start.
5.
Finish vetting will be the same, except that competitive horses will
have a second HR taken.
ROUTE MARKERS
1. Red/White
tape will be the normal form of marking.
2. Yellow
tape denotes a hazard.
3. Signs
with arrows directing all riders will also be used.
Event Safety Policy - Statement
of Intent
Scottish Endurance Riding Club will safeguard so far
is reasonably practicable the health, safety and welfare of all persons who
might be subject to risks from its activities. This will be achieved by
co-operating, communicating and co-ordinating with all relevant agencies,
organizations, volunteers, etc. necessary to manage the health & safety
during the Scottish Endurance organising committees event.
This policy requires the total co-operation of all
involved with the Scottish Endurance Riding Club – committee, stewards,
helpers, competitors, members of the public, etc. We require everyone to:
Ø Take reasonable precautions in safeguarding the
health and safety of themselves and others.
Ø Observe all health and safety rules and procedures
as laid down by Scottish Endurance Riding organising committees, and use all
health and safety equipment provided
